09 Mar Spring Break Fun!
Spring is here, and the kids are ready to run free after being cooped up all winter. Here are some fun activities you can do with your children during Spring Break.
- Take a mini road trip – You don’t have to drive far, there are beautiful destinations nearby. Here, in the Greater Houston Area, you can drive to Lake Conroe for boating. If you’re feeling a little more adventurous, go camping at Enchanted Rock.
- Go to the Zoo – The zoo is fun for all ages! Make it even more interesting by trying to identify all the animals without reading the signs.
- Take a hike – find a nearby park or trail and have a nature scavenger hunt. See what you and your child can find. Did you spot a bird? A bee? What about something fuzzy? Or something that makes noise? Make your own scavenger hunt list, or download one here.
- Visit a Museum – Museums can be fun and educational. There are so many wonderful museums in the Houston Museum District, you could visit a new one each day. Many museums offer free admission days!
- Volunteer – What could be better than bonding as a family while helping others? Help pick up litter. Spend time making crafts with the elderly at your nearby nursing home. Love animals? Volunteer at your local animal shelter!
- Backyard Shenanigans – There are so many things you can do in your own backyard. Pitch a tent, campout and make s’mores on the grill. Create and obstacle course. Just get creative!
- Ask your child! – Instead of agonizing over how to keep your child occupied and interested during Spring Break, ask your child what he/she would like to do! The answers may surprise you.
